We are SUPER EXCITED to be the first facility in this area, to offer Inamojo™ classes for kids!! Inamojo™ (pronounced in-a-mojo) brings kids age 5-8 on a journey of imagination and emotions.
A 9-week program nurturing creativity, imagination and self-expression through play. Inamojo™ classes offer children a space where kids can truly discover who they are, in the most magical of ways using music, stories, expressive movement, art, meditation, and more.
As a teenager, I was teaching myself how to chord on the piano after 10 years of lessons in classical piano. I was pretty excited to be able to play the songs that were blaring on my radio after 10 years of only playing Bach and Chopin (although I did love Bach and Chopin).
However, I was a bit envious of a category of people: guitar players.
Guitar players were able to bring their instrument around the fire camp. They could transform any boring moment into a party by pulling out their guitar and playing a couple of chords or a really rad solo. They even looked cool just standing there with their guitar hanging off their shoulder. Try that with a piano. Nope. Doesn’t work.
Anyway, the point is: the guitar is such a versatile instrument. For a number of reasons too!
You can dive deep into the classical repertoire and play very complex pieces. You can go down the pop music road and be the life of the party by playing all the songs everybody loves to belt. Or you can commit to become the next metal head genius and make that guitar scream and smoke. And let’s not forget the world of blues and jazz, where improvising is the highest form of art.
Even the style and look of your guitar of choice can be so personalized. It says so much about you! Country music sounds awesome on a Telecaster. A 12 strings gives a lot of resonance to a folk song. And nobody will be mistaken about your musical interests if you show up with one of those radical flying V guitars!
The guitar is the instrument that democratized music across societies and cultures in the last 75 years. Have you been thinking about taking the leap yourself? We at Lupton Street Studios would be very happy to take this musical journey with you!
Music lessons are the bread and butter of our studio. We offer Piano, Vocal, Guitar, Ukulele, Preschool Music, and Mini Musicians. We invite you to join us on a fantastic musical journey!!
At Lupton Street Studios, exploring creativity in a variety of mediums is our thing! When we started, music was the big one. It still is the core of our identity and will always remain an essential and beloved part of our programs.
Then we stepped out of the comfort zone and branched into offering some theatre and improv programs. We started to expand as we partnered with new instructors who could share their own creative edge with a different crowd, looking for another angle on arts and creativity. We will share more about this aspect in another blog post soon!
In the last year we’ve expanded into the vast and exciting world of visual arts!!!
We offer paint classes for kids and adults of all ages, Sip ‘N Paint nights at local establishments, and a variety of Arts & Crafts classes in our curious kids programs.
It’s been just a beginning
Arts & Craft is a whole universe in itself. We’ve been doing a lot of acrylic painting with people of all ages. It’s a medium that’s easy to use. It’s been wonderful to see little ones as well as adults take on a paint brush and dive into this world of colours, shapes and textures.
But that’s just scratching the surface. How about watercolor, sketching, oil pastels, mixed media, etc.? All these are on our mind as we partner with various artists and instructors to bring these wonderful experiences to our community.
We’ve also had fun with crafts and are looking to expand on that more in the next months! Scrapbooking? Mod Podge? Stenciling? Wood painting? 3D crafts using recycled material? We’ve done some of it and are looking for more fun adventures!
Also, there is always the option of special workshops in a private setting, like birthday parties at our studio. Don’t hesitate to communicate with us for more info on these options. We would be happy to provide you with an instructor and material for a special private event of any kind.
Be fearless in your exploration!
What would you like to explore, if there was no fear to have? Because there isn’t! It’s all about the journey, the process. The point is not to achieve perfection. The point is to make the word just a little better by sharing a piece of our soul through artistic expression of any kind. And we can all do that.
We are looking forward to have you join us on this journey!!! Please go on our website and navigate all that’s offered to you! And go regularly, because the classes are updated on a regular basis.
See you soon with a paint brush, a pencil or scissors in your hands!
Since our team is growing, we now have enough instructor resources to offer day camps for kids! We plan to offer these camps for PD days, March break, and summer break, including unique registration options. As a mom, I would hesitate to register for a full day full week obligation, as that limits other activities. So, we will offer mornings only, afternoons only, and single day afternoon programs, as well as some out of the box evening programs.
We decided to make smash books during the holidays. My mom, myself, and my boy. He had some trouble punching the holes, but loved creating his very own book! We had scissors and glue and papers and stickers and craft heaven at the kitchen table. I especially love his I LOVE YOU he was so determined to write.
You can create your own smash book as soon as we can reopen!! Keep an eye on our websiteto see what’s coming up next, or subscribe to our newsletter 🙂
